I received my first cello lessons in 1992 from Christiane Kinast at the Berlin Marzahn Music School when I was just 7 years old. There I played in the orchestra and later took part in the preparatory training program.
At the school, I received further lessons from Jens Naumilkat and later privately from Hinrik Schupelius. At the same time, I learned the basics of North Indian classical music from Pandit Kamalesh Maitra on the cello.
After graduating from high school in 2004, I spent a year in South India, Mangalore and Bangalore, where I was able to deepen my musical knowledge of North Indian music on the sitar with Ustad Rafique Khan and Sanjeev Korti, in addition to participating in social work camps and working with orphans and street children.
From 2006 to 2010, I completed a diploma in music education at Waldorf schools in Witten, majoring in cello with Wolfgang Sellner and minoring in piano with Prof. Gregor Weichert and singing with Christa Waltjen. Here I gained practical teaching experience at various schools, took part in many musical projects and also played cello, violin and viola in the Witten-Herdecke University Orchestra, the NRW Young Orchestra under Ingo Ernst Reihl and in other project orchestras.
This was followed in 2011 by a Bachelor of Arts in Music on the cello with Prof. Matias de Oliveira Pinto and singing with Siegrid Heidemann at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences, which I completed in 2013. Here I began learning to play on a left-handed cello, which I documented and reflected on in my final thesis.
In the following pedagogical master's degree at the Münster University of Music, I learned the baroque cello with Susanne Wahmhoff and began arranging and performing classical tangos, which I analyzed and summarized in my final project in 2016.
In my second Master's degree in Music in Context with a focus on composition under Prof. Ulrich Schultheiß, I developed a playing technique for the tabla tarang. I also took part in Prof. Stephan Froleyks' tabla course. In 2020 I completed it with the composition of the cycle "Tabla Tarang in Dialogue" for Indian and European instruments.
In addition to the cello, I play the piano, violin, viola, sitar, tabla, tabla tarang and sing.
